Dealing with the Saturn/Pluto Square and Other Stuff

Even though I've not been posting about astrology for quite some time as I've been working on other projects, I feel compelled to issue a Head's Up about the current astro climate.

There a great deal of turbulence *potentially* around the corner.

Here's what's going on: Saturn is squaring Pluto on Jan. 31st/Feb 1st, and the last few times this exact discordant square happened, here's what went down: the Oklahoma City bombing, the WTC attack, and the disastrous Haiti earthquake. The next and last time this square will take place will be on August 21st.

And together with this challenging square, we have a Full Moon in Leo with Mars retrograding conjunct. This dramatic cosmic set-up portends a troubled time for Leo loves drama, and Mars lights fires. Pluto (the planet of the Underworld) and Saturn (which rules structures) are transforming something. Perhaps a rent in the Matrix? What exactly it will be time will tell.

My women friends are all *feeling* this time period with their stomachs protruding, and these 'protuding' stomachs have nothing to do with a huge carb meal or two. No, their second-brain is informing them that something BIG is UP.

Pay attention. Remain aware. Stay centered and balanced and grounded no matter what.

Many of you write me requesting an appointment, and even though I'm honored, right now I'm unable to do so because of other commitments. Frankly, I have too much on my plate, and finding time to post is a luxury.

Blog Your Blessings Sundays---Kuan Yin

This is ONLY the second blog post I've made on any of my blogs since returning from my travels in Asia this Spring and early Summer. When I returned, I had zero desire to blog, and it's taken me awhile to get back into posting again.

However, now that I've processed my journey, I'd love to share one of my blessings, and this involves receiving a very special blessing in Beijing, China. This story involves Kuan Yin, and for those who've read my posts, they'll recall I have a very special connection with Kuan Yin.

Kuan Yin is also spelled Quan Yin, Guan Yin, and Kwan Yin. I prefer 'Kuan Yin' because it most resonates with me.

Ok, back to the Blessing:

I was in Beijing, China and very much wanted to visit a Kuan Yin temple. Before leaving for the trip, I googled and searched the net for such a temple, but I couldn't find one. So when I arrived at our hotel in Beijing, I asked our concierge to help me. She tracked down the oldest Buddhist temple in Beijing which honors Kuan Yin. She offered to take me there (along with others in my group), and off we went.

Upon arriving at the temple, I spied a small gift shop, and when I went into it, there were hundreds of Kuan Yin statues of all types and sizes. After deliberating for awhile, I decided to buy a small metal one which would be easily packable and unbreakable. I already have many Kuan Yin statue's in my Maui home, but I wanted another from this very special temple.

After I purchased it--to my great surprise and BLESSING--the concierge ( who was also translating for me) arranged to have my newly purchased Kuan Yin statue blessed by one of the resident monks! The ceremony he performed was powerful, and I felt chicken-skin as he conducted the ceremony with his long fingers and hands twisting into various mudras. The energy was so strong and loving. He wrote mantras on red papers which he then cut out in designs and attached them to the bottom of the statue as well behind the head of the statue. For the remainder of the trip I hand-carried this statue with me.

My blessing to share for this Blog Your Blessing Sunday is the knowledge of using mudras. Mudras are a very ancient science. Mudras help to restore balance to the system, and thus, they are great healing tools. Different mudras are used for different needs.

Wikipedia defines mudras thusly: "A mudrā (Sanskrit: मुद्रा, lit. "seal") is a symbolic or ritual gesture in Hinduism and Buddhism. While some mudrās involve the entire body, most are performed with the hands and fingers. Mudrā (Sanskrit) is "spiritual gesture" and energetic "seal of authenticity" employed in the iconography and spiritual practice of Indian religions and Taoism."

Uranus and Me

There's no getting around it: Uranus has me in it's crosshairs. And so it will be for longer than I wish to even state. Today, especially, is one of those Uranian days.

Let's begin with the details:

It's a Full Moon today, March 10th, with the Moon and Uranus conjunct in Pisces opposite the Sun AND my natal Sun too.

Five planets (counting Chiron) and the North Node are currently transiting Aquarius whose ruler is Uranus. My life partner is an Aquarius.

Uranus is close to my Ascendant.

These are the keywords often used by astrologers for Uranus: freedom, surprise, revolution, sudden shocks, futuristic, computers, electricity, jolts, originality, inspiration, and brilliance. On the flip side, here are some other words: eccentric, fanatic, rebel, restless, and impulsive.

With Venus currently retrograde in my First House, I'm not planning on changing my hair color or to undergo surgery. Rather I'm gonna patiently await Uranus to surprise me with a windfall, download of intuitive information, AND most likely, write a lot on the computer. :Smile:

Blog Your Blessings Sunday--Ocean

The 'blessings' I'm celebrating today are the appreciation, beauty, and nourishment I receive from the gorgeous ocean surrounding my island home of Maui. Every day I have the opportunity to view this exquisite ocean from many different places.

In some locations the ocean is a pale aquamarine...in other places a deep cobalt blue. Sometimes the ocean is threaded with different shades of blue. The photo above was taken in a little town called Paia on the North Shore of Maui in the late afternoon, and you can see the water has a greenish shade in some parts.

I can gaze upon it for hours on end and love to listen to the sound of the waves. Whether I'm swimming in the warm ocean water or merely viewing it, I feel totally blessed.

During the winter months, the Hawaiian Islands are blessed by the return of the Humpback Whales who migrate to our wonderful warm waters every year. It's during this time that many people (as do I) venture out on boats to view the antics of these amazing beings.

I've been out on boats lately enjoying the ocean and the whales, and today I'd like to share the blessings I receive from being on the ocean. The ocean changes from place to place and day to day. Yesterday the ocean was a deep, dark blue...on another days it's a gorgeous cobalt blue...and on some days, the ocean has a turquoise coloration. Yesterday the ocean was very choppy and covered with white caps. At other times, the ocean is like a mirror.

Whatever way I discover the ocean, I feel blessed to be living around such an amazing element, and the energy I receive from being 'on the ocean' and experiencing this expansiveness which comes to one surrounded by deep waters.

As many people probably read online, the message was that yesterday officially began the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius. Many people were sending Heart Hugs around the planet with the intention to celebrate this dawning. I was on a boat on the ocean doing just this in my meditation.

For those that missed the viral message about yesterday, I'll sum it up briefly for you: On February 14 at 7:25 am Greenwich Time a rare astrological concentration brings together a group of planets with the North Node (higher purpose) in Aquarius which energizes the possibility for upliftment and breakthrough.

These words taken from a song of the 60's called "Aquarius" brought the idea of our New Age into our collective awareness:

When the Moon is in the seventh house
And Jupiter aligns with Mars.
Then love will rule the planets
and peace will steer the stars.

Such an alignment actually HAPPENED yesterday when expansive Jupiter and energetic Mars aligned with the North Node. Chiron (the healer) also got into the mix as did Neptune, Mercury, and Pluto. The Moon in Libra in the 7th house emphasizes harmonious relationships. Venus in the1st house energizes co-creativity.

What an awesome day it was, and I was on a powerful grid point in the Maui waters and blessed to be participating in such a day.

Recently we took a hike through a grove of eucalyptus trees high on the slopes of Haleakala. The fragrance of eucalyptus was highly intoxicating, and we became high from this beautiful smell and energy from the trees.

Eucalyptus trees are an incredible blessing. It is said that if you sit with your back to an eucalyptus tree, you can easily send a telepathic message to the dolphin kingdom. Eucalyptus are native to Australia, and they've been extensively planted throughout Hawaii. There are medicinal uses of eucalyptus as well. Click here to read them.

Rainy Days And Astrology Magazines Never Get Me Down

The last week or so there have been a lot of rainy days on Maui, and on such days, I love to curl up with a pile of books and magazines, one of which was The Mountain Astrologer magazine. I'm going to share some of my favorite articles from the Feb/March issue of The Mountain Astrologer.

The fascinating interview with long-time consulting astrologer Bill Herbst is a must read. I love this part: "...so I tried to run out in front of the parade a little bit, and now I'm presuming that the parade is reaching the town square."

Bill's the kind of astrologer who has been around the block and well ahead of most of us, and his candid insights about our future thus need to be carefully considered.

"Re-Visioning the Lunar Nodes" by Kathy Allan, is a comprehensive analysis of the lunar nodes, and it offered remembrance of my own Lunar node placement through one of the people she examined, Dr. Kay Mullis, winner of the 1993 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Dr. Mullis has a Cancer North Node in the 4th house and her South Node in the Capricorn 10th house as do I. It's always good to get a nudge/reminder: "The South Node in the 10th house in Capricorn indicates that, if the profession is directed toward the greater good of the collective, the native can be successful. But if he is seeking prestige or social standing, he will fail."

"Neptune and Economic Turmoil" by Paul Wright is another article which interested me for several reasons. My birthday is Sept. 14th, and one thing I hadn't computed was that the Full Moon on my birthday, 2008, was "significant by its alignment with the U.S. Neptune (at 22 degrees 26 minutes Virgo) in the Sibly chart." Somehow I had overlooked that interesting detail which has me reflecting upon the implications.

Another quote from this article: "Neptune is the great leveller, and as I have said, and over the next cycle I think there will be a (welcome) drift towards global equalisation of wealth." I'd like to think Paul Wright is right!

"In Praise of Melancholy or the Danse Macabre" by Brad Kochunas was another provocative read. "I do wish to make a distinction between major depression and melancholy, of whose praises I sing," writes Kochunas. I also treasure my melancholy when it comes, and out of the time spent in the melancholic phase, new creativity and direction arise for me. So I guess you could say I praise it too.

Of Mars and Grace

My Mother had a saying which I heard all the time, "If it's not one thing, it's another!" And this is how it goes with astrology, since the astrological aspects are always changing, and just when one *challenging* aspect passes, another aspect comes along which is another lesson. If one is an anxious, fearful type, they shouldn't study the 'old-school' astrology.

Why? Because these astrology books are written with a fear-inducing slant. For example, transiting Mars recently transited my partner's Mars in his first house. If I bought-into what these books said about this astrological aspect, I would expect my partner to go ballistic, have an accident, or get into a fist-fight.

Of course, none of this happened, and he passed through his Mars conjunct Mars time without incident. I merely saw a positive manifestation of this aspect as he pursued business with added zest and vigor. He diligently worked to get a new account, and he succeeded.

It's my sense that Grace tweaks our lives, gives us an upgrade, and allows us to pass through the challenging aspects and times of our lives much more than many of the old astrology books would have us believe.

For many years I've been a vehicle/channel for the energies of the great Kuan Yin. Some days and moments I'm really in the zone when I strongly feel Her energies, and then at other times, no way.

When I come into contact with others-- either in person or through other sources such as magazines, newspapers, or the internet--I visualize Her loving blessings flowing through me to others. As a member of Her ground crew, I feel extremely blessed to assist.

As Her energies flow through me to others, I am doubly blessed.

What I do isn't a *career* for me as I don't have a Kuan Yin website, do channeling sessions, give readings, or anything of the kind. I don't proclaim my Kuan Yin connection to those I counsel.

Another spiritual practice I incorporate into my daily life is from something I read on the internet. I tried this practice, and it works. The source of this information is from a Hawaiian therapist named Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len.

Simply say several sentences to yourself and imagine another person--usually a person with whom you're having issues. Say, "I'm sorry. Forgive me. I love you." Say this over and over as long as it's required for the healing.

Happy Full Moon

Already the calls have come in about emotional upsets. This Full Moon in Cancer is tweaking people in the worst way, and many are dramatizing. Some want to punch another out. One gives her partner a sharp kick in the butt with her pointy toe shoe and throws her engagement ring back at her fiancee in a fit. Oh yes, I've been hearing the stories. You probably have as well.

This Full Moon in moody Cancer is triggering safety issues, and emotions are pouring forth. If you can find a way to defuse some of this excess emotion in yourself, so much the better. As for others who don't 'get' astrology and are busy emoting and acting-out, this is a time to remain calm and avoid reacting!

If you wish to make the best of this Cancer Full Moon, stay home and putz. Make yourself a nurturing soup or hot chocolate. Cook your favorite comfort food. Cuddle up to your pets, and shed a tear or two if you need. This too shall pass.

One of my great blessings is our *always hot and ready-to-go* jacuzzi on our deck. Our deck is totally private and surrounded by trees and flowers--I feel like a goddess stepping into this hot, bubbling water. We use zero chlorine or chemicals in it.

When the planets Jupiter and Venus were paired together in the Southwestern sky recently, I was sitting in this delicious water all alone *stargazing* when I observed a meteor streak between these two. Pure Bliss!

Being a water-baby type, I love the water, and being outside in warm water in Nature is extremely healing and rejuvenating for me. If I've had a long day or night, this is the best thing for me to shake-off the energies and feel centered once more. I highly recommend the healing combination of starlight and warm water.

Today is Yule--better known as Winter Solstice.

Beginning today and for a 3 day period the Sun & Earth relationship will cause the Sun to appear to stand still in the sky. This is the coding: Sol is Sun, Sistere means stand still, and this is why we call it the Solstice. After the 3 days, the Sun will appear to move again, and this is why we celebrate its 'birth' on Christmas Day.

I feel blessed to be alive on such a Sacred Day and to once again celebrate The Season Of Light!

Blog Your Blessings Sunday--Discernment

Several weeks ago I was presented with an opportunity to use my god-given gift of discernment. We all have discernment, but sometimes (as in my case!), I'm not ALWAYS using this gift, and thus, I get entrapped/sucked-in/ensnared by information coming from authoritative sources. In other words, I buy-into someone else's truth other than my own.

These sources usually appear credible and trustworthy, but there will be *something* which sends a red flag alert that something is *off* with this source.

And it is at this point that your discernment surfaces. In my case, I wanted to believe this source. It took me awhile before my gut and discernment kicked in. What a blessing to employ this gift and become balanced once again!

What are you doing the next couple of nights? I'm gonna enjoy the "Long Nights Moon" (Full Moon) and this:

"GEMINID METEOR SHOWER: The annual Geminid meteor shower peaks on Dec. 13th and Dec. 14th when Earth passes through a stream of debris from extinct comet 3200 Phaethon. Bright moonlight will reduce the number of visible meteors from the usual 100/hr to only 20/hr or so. That's still a nice show. For best results, watch the sky starting 10 pm local time on Saturday night (Dec 13th) until dawn on Sunday morning (Dec. 14th)." via Space Weather

I watched an incredible meteor during the recent Venus/Jupiter conjunction--it streaked right between the two planets in the night sky. Wow!

Pluto Into Capricorn

Breakthrough

Today as I sat meditating at my altar, I had a profound download. For many years, I've relied on astrology to get my bearings and select optimum timings for my ventures, but today I've graduated from this 'program'.

Even though astrology has been an excellent tool, this activation was an upgrade and it's called Presence. It's really simple: it's an energy which is always available 24/7 and with zero need to figure out the complexities of an astrological chart.

Presence doesn't look to the past or future. Everything is created moment to moment to moment. In the stillness I know.

The mind has been what I've identified with, and now I can't take it seriously anymore.

What this means to this *mostly* astrology blog remains to be seen.

This freedom is expansive, and my path may change in dramatic fashion.

Saturn Is Closing In On My Sun

For the past week I've been fighting off a cold which began with a raw throat. I immediately began gargling with hot sea salt water, and this helped. But then this sore throat insisted on returning, and so I applied more remedies as the days rolled by. Yesterday I awoke with laryngitis, and I could only whisper. Thus, I spent my whole day *listening* which really was quite nice for a change--just nodding, pointing, and writing.

Ironically, it seemed everyone wanted to communicate with me on the day when I wasn't really up to it--at least, not in a verbal way. Here's my Astrodienst for yesterday: "Quite frequently this influence indicates one of those days when the telephone never seems to stop ringing. It seems as if everyone wants to get in touch with you, and you have to contact many people too. Important communications from others may very well come by mail, telephone or personal conversation. And you will speak your mind with everyone. It is very important with this influence to let people know exactly where you stand on every issue. Your honesty and forthrightness in what you say will command the respect of others."

And even though I would've liked to have spoken my mind and communicated, I could ONLY write my mind!

Here's my astro explanation for what's going on: my Natal Sun is in my 6th house of health, and transiting Saturn is slowly closing in on a conjunction with this Natal Sun. In my Natal (or birth chart), my Sun at 22 degrees Virgo was closely squared by BOTH the Moon and Uranus , and so I'm getting triggered by this transit!

Perhaps it's time for me to release and roar my Primal Scream?!

Take this photo, for example. This photo was taken by my daughter Gen when we vacationed in Ecuador this year. My family bonded as we hiked in the Andes. What a blessing to enjoy the mountains and Nature together. What a blessing to be off the beaten path in the raw wilderness. What a blessing to meet wild horses. What a blessing to have digital cameras to record our meeting with these horses. What a blessing to have great memories and photos!

Astrology and Intuition

One thing I'm learning through the years following astrological aspects and charts is that symbolism of the planets can be interpreted in a variety of ways--and this is why so many astrologers had a very hard time calling the presidential election with or without correct birth times for both party candidates.

This is why I don't rely totally on astrology for my sense of things. I use many tools, and the tool I use most is my intuition. Cultivating intuition is probably the smartest activity anyone can do for it will serve you well.

I can't say I'm always 'on the money'--nor can the best seers and predictors. Things interfere. Our mind and ego interferes. Such is life. The best of us aren't always 100% clear.

Recently I went over the dates for potential mates with the Love Cards. A client who's wishing to marry wanted to know who might be good for her, and I read her off the multiple days of the year for those with whom she could potentially have a marriage. When she checked some of her co-workers, she realized she had some of these 'qualified' good catches with said co-workers.

Even though these qualified ones may size up to be 'good' according to the Love Cards, these men don't size up in other ways. For example, they are compatible as 'friends', but they aren't attractive for 'lovers'. These men simply didn't have the sizzle she was looking for.

It's my sense that lovers know each other immediately, and it's not as corny as love at first sight might suggest. There's a KNOWING that this person is your destiny. Maybe not forever. Maybe only for a couple of years. Maybe for many lifetimes. But there's HEAT.

And you know.

Blog Your Blessings Sunday--Art

My subject for the Blog Your Blessings Sunday post is ART! I'm blessed by having an eye for beauty, for enjoying the creative process, by having friends who are artistic, and for my appreciation of ALL kinds of art.

When I was in high school, I received a full scholarship to a prestigious art school, but my family forbade me to take the scholarship for fear of my being alone in New York and too far away. It was in my despair at having lost out on this marvelous opportunity that I changed direction and eventually graduated with a degree in journalism.

Writing isn't my first love, but it has served me in my life, and I've learned that as long as I'm creating--whether it posting on a blog, taking a photograph, painting, dancing, or singing--I'm blessed to have the creative energies flowing through me.

Art brings me JOY, and when I'm joyous, I facilitate joy in other's lives. And I'm so appreciative of other artists who bring me great joy every day.

It's Not Just You

This past week everyone I knew was in a funk.

Including me.

And no one could put their finger on EXACTLY why because nothing dramatic had changed for them. They hadn't lost their life savings in the stock market or experienced a major crisis.

But astrology had the clues as to why the funk.

The Moon was applying to a conjunction with Saturn which is a downer PLUS the opposition of Saturn and Uranus is getting closer and closer, and everyone's feeling this stress. On November 4th--Election Day--the opposition between these two planets will be EXACT

Now that the Moon-Saturn conjunction has passed and Mercury has gone direct again, people's moods are a bit better, and I'm expressing my blessings today on Blog Your Blessings Sunday knowing the wisdom of these words:

Blog Your Blessings Sunday--Second Life

This morning was spent at a gathering with beautiful goddess's from all over the world thanks to Starheart and Second Life. Starheart is one of the co-founders of the New Earth Star in Second Life and of which I'm a member and participant.

I came attired today in my Mermaid Outfit which is so lovely I can't bear to take it off and put on something else from my inventory/closet. Each of the others who gathered today wore gorgeous outfits, and we met inside a pyramid which Starheart has created along with her partner.

My blessing of today is the ability to meet, chat, engage, and share loving friendship with others in the outrageous other world of Second Life.

Aries Full Moon and Starship Sightings

It's almost 11 AM Hawaii time, and as I write this post and from what I've been able to read on the web from around the world, THUS FAR zero starship sightings or a "huge craft of a great light' has appeared. Perhaps 'they' are late?

The rumors of an upcoming mass televised UFO sighting over American skies which have taken the Internet by storm and kept people all over the world sky-watching are maybe just that--rumors?!

I'm a haphazard poster on this blog--my mostly astrology blog. The reason being is that I'm such a curious cat--I'm usually researching something, reading, posting on another blog, writing, traveling, consulting, creating art, and so on and so forth.

Constraint doesn't work for me. Haphazard and occasional does. I'm way more Uranian than Saturnian.

I'll use MYSELF as the subject of the current astro Saturn-Uranus opposition. Yeh, everyone has this opposition, and it's impacting us all for some time.

Transiting Uranus in the 12th House opposses my Natal Saturn in the 6th house, and the challenge is clear. The 6th house rules health (among other things), and the 12th house rules hospitals and secrets (among other things).

Because of health issues, I discovered someone online (Uranus--computers) who has been able to connect the dots for me.The revelations have been very healing for me and will undoubtedly assist in clearing my health issues.

The Saturn Opposite Uranus aspect tells me the lure is to to use eccentric, unusual methods to deal with my health issues. I'm using 'outside-the-box' methods for healing. I'm grateful for the internet which allowed me to discover these healing modalities and people. Who knew there were so many alternatives to allopathic medicine?!

These secret health remedies and people might have been hidden from me in another time, but now, Saturn (the old guard of medicine) can't keep them from me as long as my fingers can type, and I have energy to research.

Saturn is the Old Guard (the established medical and pharmaceutical) and Uranus is the Wild Genius (new technologies, inventions and approaches). These two are battling it out. Who will win?

How about you? Are you dealing with a situation in your life where the Old is battling with the New? How are you handling this? Are you daring to bet on the New? Or are you sticking to what is secure and stable (Saturn)? You can do a bit of both--it's not all black and white, either-or!

Paying The Pluto Piper

With a little over a month away from the final exit of Pluto from the sign of Sagittarius and the entry into Capricorn on November 26, 2008, we are witnessing the shadow of 'things' to come in the news.

Events cast their shadows before them, and we can glean from these shadows what's in store.

Even though we had many connections at different airports and traveled in third-world countries on our recent journey, all went smoothly, and we returned home safe and sound.

When we were at the Tucson, airport I photographed this beautiful picture on the wall. I like how the eyes of the angels are beaming light upon the churches. This is how I feel about our angels: they lovingly watch over us and light our way.

When Venus Meets Pluto

As I was working on an astro chart for a client yesterday, one of her astrocartography crossings jumped out at me! And I knew this crossing was q big part of Her Story.

She's never had 'luck' in love. And even though relationships are challenging for the luckiest of us, when you live with a Venus/Pluto astrocartography crossing, maintaining a loving relationship without quarreling and other yukky stuff is SUPER challenging.

I know whereof I speak, for many long years I too lived in such an astrocartography climate, and recently when I re-visited this area on vacation, once again I discovered myself becoming a 'spitfire' which is not normally the way I behave in my current relationship!

What can one do to mitigate this challenging Venus/Pluto? What worked for me was becoming aware in the moment. After 'acting-out', I realized my behavior was not something I wished to incorporate and wasn't 'me'. I didn't wish to claim or embody this energy, nor did I wish to incorporate it into my relationship. So I let it go.

Choose NOT to react. Choose to let go your anger. Choose not to engage in a quarrel.

Not easy, but it can be done.

Collecting Energies

I've recently returned from vacation and am slowly beginning my blogging routine again. Mahalo for checking-up on me via email! I'm refreshed and rejuvenated.

Traveling is very interesting to me from an astrocartography perspective, for I love to witness others (including myself) as we interact with our astro-environment. Through the years, I've watched people express their astrocartography charts EVEN in brief airport layovers, so I'm completely convinced of the validity of astrocartography.

The insights I received recently add MORE to the astrocartography story, and these insights have to do with what we 'gather' or 'collect' from various geographical locations.

For instance, should you wish to add more Venus or Jupiter to your current location which doesn't have Venus or Jupiter HIGHLIGHTED on the angles of your astro chart, you can visit a location where your Venus and Jupiter are on the angles and collect this energy to bring home with you.

How do you do this? Through intention and memory.

Visualize the memory of how you felt at a location and intentionally express this feeling where you're currently located. This may take some practice, but it can be done!

Weddings are such great blessings because they bring people together whom don't often get together in one place very often. Such a day we experienced yesterday as our extended family (ohana) flew in from all over the world for the wedding of Steve and Andrea.

There was a mix of Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese, and Vietnamese with a sprinkling here and there of Irish, Danish, and Swedish. It was a blessing to feel the Ancestors (in Spirit) join with us to celebrate this beautiful wedding.

Marvelous Mars--So Close To Us

Uranus Is Keeping Us On Our Toes

So if someone tells you to prepare for surprise, what do you do?

After all, a surprise is.... SURPRISE! The concept of a surprise is you never would have guessed in a million years an event is happening. No matter how much you plan or think you may be prepared for the unexpected--things/stuff/events occur which are unexpected and surprising.

Such has been my life for the last several months. One by one the surprises and unexpected events have been happening. These surprises are on many different levels.

The other evening our home phone rang in the middle of the night, something which rarely happens.

All three of us awoke with a jolt as we're now wired to expect surprising, URANIAN things as part of daily life. The caller didn't leave a message and hung up. Of course, we researched the caller ID and discovered the source since we were all now wide awake.

In former times, we wouldn't have been as easily jolted since we know people from other time zones don't comprehend the time difference calling to Hawaii. Now that Uranus has been playing with us (each in a different astro aspect way), we're on our toes.

We are blessed in that miracles are holding hands with the surprises.

Flickr is such a blessing for me as well as many others. This past month I've been playing catch-up and scanning old (pre-digital) photos into my Flickr account. Even though this is a time-consuming process, I'm thrilled that Flickr exists and holds many of my cherished photo memories.

Even though I'm far from finished in this process of uploading old photos, I'm feeling very blessed to have the tools of a scanner, a computer, and Flickr!

Astro Trepidation

I finally found time to look into astrological timings today for family members and upcoming events. And I must say, the astrological landscape fills me with trepidation. Knowing full well that I'm always protected by my angels and guides, I still know every embodied human gets tested. No one is exempt from challenges, no matter how lucky or protected.

Saturn has a bad rep, but I don't feel Saturn is always all out BAD! From analyzing the way Saturn operates in the lives of others--everything from astrocartography to natal aspects to transits--I see Saturn has both it's good and bad.

The Energies Of The Leo Solar Eclipse

As I've been 'following' the astro charts of those I know with placements in Leo and Aquarius, I wanted to wait until the Solar Eclipse day was half-way through before posting today. Eclipses (so it is said) have a two-week window on each side of them, so by waiting until late in the day, I don't know what I expected to hear. Thus far, I've not heard or observed anything out-of-the-ordinary about those with placements possibly triggered by this eclipse.

None of my Leo or Aquarian guinea pigs/humans have gone bonkers or experienced anything traumatic or dramatic.

The generation of Baby Boomers with Pluto in Leo could also be impacted by this Solar Eclipse. I'm fascinated by what is happening in these intense times and how others will respond.

For the last several months I've been engaged in a huge project: scanning old travel photos into my computer and then downloading them onto my Flickr account. This process is a slow one, and this is why my Blog Your Blessings Sunday blessings today is all about digital cameras.

How did we ever manage without digital cameras? I love the ease and speed of sharing digital photos!

I use two digital cameras and plan to add another, a Nikon D60, after a friend demonstrated to me what her Nikon could do.

The photo above is from the pre-digital era, and even though I've been scanning and uploading for what seems like an eternity, I've still got a long way to go before my project is complete.

And then I'm never looking back. Digital all the way forevermore!

Drama...Drama...Drama...

It has been noted by many astrologers the Leo's and Aquarian's often are the drama kings and queens, and even though this is a generalization, I've learned by studying many charts that USUALLY if someone is very dramatic, they may have some of their planets located in Leo or Aquarius.

I'm sure there's many very well-adjusted Leo's and Aquarian's who aren't drama kings and queens, and with that said, I'll tell a tale.

An Aquarian Man with a Leo Moon is my example today, and even though his Moon and Sun aren't aspecting one another, they *incline* this man to be very dramatic. Add a natal opposition of Mars to his Sun and voila--a man who can be counted on to act-out with hostility when transits trigger his Sun and Moon!

With the gentle demeanor of Libra rising, these episodes of 'acting-out' can be quite shocking to those that don't know him well.

The current transiting South Node in Leo is applying to a conjunction with his Natal Moon. Today transiting Mercury is conjunct his Mars, so he's mouthing off.

He is looking for trouble today, and who knows where his dramatics are gonna take him.

Timing A Leap Into Unknown Territory

Recently I confided to my partner a theory I was playing around with. When I told him said theory, he was so enthusiastic and told me I should blog about these wild 'n crazy theories I have. And, naturally, I told him something to the effect of, "Not on your life. Everyone in the world would think I'm a total crackpot! And believe me, I'm not going to go out on the limb like that."

He continued trying to convince me the world NEEDED my ideas and my kind of crazy and people would be clamoring to hear more. I stubbornly held my ground, and he finally told me he thinks I'm one of the most stubborn people he's ever known. "Besides myself," he added.

IMHO, I know him to be far more stubborn than me. But perhaps we're both projecting, eh? Isn't this often what couples do?

After dwelling on our conversation, I decided to showcase another facet of myself on another of my blogs, Who's Yo Mama? And no, this isn't where I unleash my far-out speculations, but simply where I'm griping! I've never dared to gripe on my blogs, and I don't know why. I guess it's because I want my blogs to be positive and uplifting, funny, inspirational or educational.

Therefore, taking a leap into griping was HUGE for me. So I selected today with the stars lined up in my favor. Transiting Mercury in my fifth house of creativity is trine my Natal Ascendant today, and thus, I should make myself very clear. My Gripe Of The Day hopefully will be communicated clearly, and I will receive positive feedback.

Saturn Is Bumming Me

The last week has been one of those weeks of lots of hard work PLUS mild depression, and because I've been so busy with my multiple projects, I've not taken the time to check out my astro chart. So late yesterday the FUNK was coming on so strong that I decided I'd better look into my chart and see wussup with me.

And lo and behold, the aspect was right there in front of me--big and bold! Yes, transiting Sun is crossing my natal Saturn. I suppose it could be worse with transiting Saturn crossing my Sun, so I can't gripe too much.

Here's the meaning of transiting Sun conjunct one's natal Saturn: low energy, mild depression, feeling of responsibility, and tendency to over-work.

Yup, that's me in a nutshell. Now that I know this too will pass, I feel somewhat liberated.

Blog Your Blessings Sunday--Practicing Kindness

The blessings I'd like to share with you today is this: Random Acts of Kindness. I'm fortunate to frequently receive these acts of kindness, and I'm blessed to pay them forward.

I feel some people are just naturally kind, and others have to work at it, but practicing is good for everyone. If we would perform merely ONE act of kindness per day, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, the world would be a much happier place.

Giving praise to another and speaking your appreciation also fall into this category of Random Acts of Kindness. Our words of praise and gratitude are powerful and impact others more than we often know.

An example of a Random Act of Kindness action is what Cyber Celt does. I read her post about keeping grocery bags in her car and giving them out to needy strangers when she felt called to do so. Kindness is no doubt second nature to her.

Mars and Saturn--Like Oil and Water

If you follow astrology, you will notice that Mars is approaching the conjunction with Saturn. These two planets don't get along very well it has been noted by many astrologers, and their conjunction over the Fourth of July holiday is troublesome.

Mars conjunct Saturn is all about push-pull, start-stop...and thus frustration.

I'm wondering how this Mars-Saturn conjunction is going to play out in world news? It'll be very interesting to observe. Will fireworks go down in a fizzle? Or will anger boil over and light up our skies?

Ready For More Fun

Since there are SO MANY astrological house systems, I don't know which one really is most solid and applicable. Thus, I usually don't pay THAT much attention to planets transiting through my houses or the houses of others until AFTER we've experienced the transit.

However, sometimes I can FEEL and experience a planet's entry into a house before I check out my chart, and this was the case when Venus entered my Fifth House of children, love, and creativity!

You see--I've been on a long-overdue get-things-accomplished-already! tangent, and I've been steadily applying myself to projects and making good headway.

I'm not even close to being finished with multiple projects....but ya see, Venus wants to play. And Venus is a very powerful energy for me, and so I'm going to play, LOVE a lot, and forget about the unfinished work.

I'm positive the projects will wait for me. If not, well then...

My contribution to this edition of Blog Your Blessings Sunday is the blessings of prayers. I've read that prayers said by others on your behalf are much more powerful than the prayers you pray for yourself. And one of the reasons this may be true is because there isn't any subconscious self-sabotage happening when you pray for others.

I've been blessed BOTH ways: having the opportunity to pray for others and for having others pray for me.

When you pray for yourself, there may well be blockages set up because of feelings of guilt, unworthiness, lack of self-love, etc.

One of the most famous intercessors is Madonna, also known as the Blessed Mother, the Virgin Mary and her intercessory prayer:

I love Full Moon nights, but I prefer to stay home when people are driving crazy or acting weird. Last night as I was falling off to sleep, I could hear a guy in the neighborhood fighting with his girlfriend on his cell phone. His voice would rise and fall as the conversation continued, and I thought to myself, "Where are my earplugs when I really need them?"

When Mars Meets Venus

Yesterday transiting Mars in Leo met my Venus for a brief get-together.

This is what Astrodienst had to say about this aspect:

A Martian Energy Surge

I've been trying to comprehend if there is anything specific in my current astrology chart which would explain why I've become so very busy, energized, and driven to accomplish so much as in the last several months.

Waking up I can't wait to begin projects and complete projects, and there are so many creative ideas buzzing around inside my head. My energetic prowess and output has been amazing to my family. For example, they marvel at how I've managed to move a heavy object all by myself.

My days fly by! The only downside is I've not been blogging as much as I once did, and I miss this hobby.

Perhaps it's transiting Uranus in my first house?

Or maybe it's my new Mars cycle which began about the same time as this energy surge.

Or an upgrade of some kind in my frequency?

Whatever it is, I'm very grateful.

On today's BYB Sunday I'd like to post about the blessings of books in my life. Books have always been important to me since I was young. I've always had a hunger for knowledge, and books sated this ravenous hunger.

I've amassed a large library of books through the years (oh yes, Amazon.com and me are good buddies!), and every year I weed through them and pass many along to others. Since I've been letting go of SO many things lately (as I've written in other posts on other blogs), I've also been winnowing my library once again.

However, I prefer to hold onto CERTAIN books which continue to inspire me. One such book is "Something More...Excavating Your Authentic Self" by Sarah Nan Breathnach. This morning I opened to page 107 which is a chapter on Authentic Success, and I'll share with you two quotes from this chapter which really speak to me, inspire and bless me. I Survived Mars And Pluto

Quite often I think the famous astrologers write very frightening and sensational prose....or maybe that's simply because I've been forewarned by their words and avoided the dangers of which they write.

So it was with a bit of trepidation that I read in my book Planets In Transit by the famous astrologer Robert Hand, " This transit is a strong stimulus to any kind of ambition, but the danger is that its energy can be rather violent and disruptive." He goes on with more warnings.

Just to play it safe, I nested and retreated, and zero violence or disruption entered my life.

Perhaps this is the great value of astrology: words to the wise. Don't push the river at this time.

In any event, I was VERY active within my realm even if I did lay low. And the "heavy work" Hand mentioned in another paragraph was lifting boxes from one room to another. The part about using this power creatively is what I manifested: I finished another art piece. I feel the power of Mars and Pluto in it, and I've already framed and hung it on my wall.

This was my first professional piano lesson, and there followed all the way through college-- lessons, practice, and performances by me in piano, dance, and acting.

This was my training for a life and career that put me in the public eye where I worked with people in many capacities through the years. I've collected photos of this amazing journey AND which I'm FINALLY taking on the arduous task of sorting through, organizing, and putting into either a digital or scrapbook format.

This photo shown above brings back happy memories and blessings from my dolphin days. I asked my Japanese clients who had just returned from the boat and swimming with the dolphins (via the nonprofit cetacean research and education organization I founded) to pose for me on a tree branch, and they happily agreed. They were so joyful and had just experienced a great adventure swimming in the ocean with wild dolphins so they were in great spirits.

My blessings this week are my photos! I have so many as I was and still am a photo bug, and sifting through all these THOUSANDS of photos has been a trip down memory lane. I've been blessed by my encounters with people and creatures great and small from all over the world in my life's journey, and these photos are my reminders of what an incredible, blessed life I've lived.

There are so many blessings I/We receive every moment of every day that when it comes time to Blog My Blessings every Sunday I don't know where to begin!

But since I need to focus and pick a subject, this week's blessing topic will be becoming aware of Presence in one's life. Presence is the still small voice within--the quiet background for the noisy, mental, monkey- brain part of ourselves. The more one tunes into Presence, the more miracles occur in one's life. This practice of tuning into Presence has been my path for many years.

Miracles happen to me and others close to me all the time--little ones all the way to big ones. I don't attempt to create them-- that's more in the realm of magic. Setting intentions is the early stage for what eventually matures into ALLOWING Presence to operate in your life. I refer to Presence by many names: my angels, Spirit, God/Goddess, and others.

Those that know and associate with me will attest to these miracles because most often these are miracles for others. If they have a strong desire, and they've been around me, miracles happen to them. They don't even need to voice their desires. Sometimes the miracles happen in the course of a day, and sometimes these miracles require a longer space of time.

Its my knowing that Presence flows these blessings and miracles to others.

In The Beginning

When I first began studying astrology back in the dark ages, these were the first two books I purchased along with the Zodiacal Indicator Wheel. While cleaning out my office of the ancient books I've collected through the years, I decided to post about these books as they were my initial source of inspiration.

You can see that the big blue book on the top, the "A to Z Horoscope Maker and Delineator" has been lovingly chewed on, and this corner reminds me of my long gone, sweet companion Dratzel, a cockapoo. He loved to chew on this book as he saw me studying it a lot, and thus, he probably figured he would get even with the competition for his attention.

I purchased this book from the Church of Light in downtown Los Angeles, a very interesting place with bright purple carpets. It was written by Llewellyn George, and the price tag penciled in the upper right hand corner says I purchased it for $12.30. Doesn't that 30 cents seem very odd now in 2008? I purchased the 19th edition. Wow!

Perhaps it was the opening paragraph that so captured my attention:

"Now that the New Era is at hand--the dawning of the Aquarius Age--thousands under the general title of Advanced Thought are beginning to respond actively to the influence of "the water bearer," and because this advance guard of the Army of Truth and Peace requires insight to the mysteries of Nature in order to best promote their cause of enlightenment, we take this opportunity to present for consideration and study the highests of all sciences, astrology. Highest, because when rightly understood, it opens the way clearly to an understanding of the manifestations of Nature through human and mundane affairs."

The second book photographed above, "Heaven Knows What" by Grant Lewi was my second introduction to astrology. It was a basic book which helped newbies like me cast a horoscope plus it gave interpretive paragraphs about aspects, and in the back of the book were horoscope blanks. This one managed to escape the teeth of my beloved dog.

The third item was used for determing the rising sign and was published by the Esoteric Fraternity. It's still in working order, but I haven't used it since a zillion years. Who uses these kind of devices anymore? But it sure helped me WAY BACK THEN!

Many years ago I accompanied my daughter (photographed above--the dark-haired beauty) to take photos of her students and her as they visited an adult (senior ) daycare center on Maui for Mother's Day. This experience was both saddening and joyful for me. It was sad because these Mother's no longer had children around to celebrate the holiday. It was joyful in the respect that the visiting children bringing them gifts and food made the Mothers soooo happy!

As for me, being a Mother has been the most fabulous blessing I've ever received, and I absolutely love being a Mother!

New Moon in Taurus

Isn't it interesting that the Taurus New Moon falls on Cinco de Mayo this year? Since Taurus Moon's signify creature comforts, and since many people like to party on Cinco de Mayo, I imagine restaurants will be spilling over with patrons eager to eat, drink, and make merry today! We certainly plan to!

The Taurus New Moon's promote fertility, and with Venus in Taurus, this is a great time to conceive if one is so inclined.

Also with Chiron, North Node, and Neptune conjunct (close together), one is given a free pass and power to travel the alternate dimensions, create mystical art, and dream NEW dreams.

Blog Your Blessings Sunday--Memories

I am grateful for the blessings of memories--especially in the form of old photographs. Yesterday my daughter and I began the first step in a new project we're undertaking together. This is organizing our old family and friends photos in creative scrapbook fashion with story lines and collage.

Since I'm very sentimental about old photos and have collected so many through the years, this is a HUGE undertaking, and I'm blessed that my daughter is as enthused about working on this project as I am. We began by gathering some of the photos in various albums and sorting them by subject, but there wasn't enough time to sort through ALL the photos!

We had many good laughs looking at ourselves and others at different ages with different hair styles. We had our dorky photos and our "wish-I-still-looked-like-that" photos. The biggest laugh was when my partner decided to join us and look at some of the photos, and he asked me, "Who is that guy you're snuggled up to in this photo?"

And it was HIM--when he had grown a beard. He couldn't remember ever having a beard, and he had totally blocked that part of his life. He didn't even recognize himself in the photo! He has changed a lot since those bearded times.

The Return

When making important decisions about an event, I always draw up an astrology chart to check out the aspects. However, there are some things out of my control and making airline reservations for a major trip always is done by my significant other in our household. Not that I wouldn't prefer to do it, but he claims this job because he likes to search around for the best deal, and he feels more suited to this daunting task.

This searching always entails him grumbling and then grumbling some more until he finally books the flights. Once booked and ticketed, I'm stuck with his timing! And so it went on our last leg of our journey to the Mainland. He had booked our tickets, and I had drawn up a chart to see how everything looked....and it didn't look good at all! But what am I gonna do? Wait 'n see, and hope for the best! Some things are just fated I feel.

Here's how it came down: We arrived at the Kahului airport on Maui two hours ahead of time which would be around 6:30 AM on April 3. Our flight was scheduled for 8:20 AM that morning. When we pulled up curbside to drop off our bags (a friend had driven us to the airport), we heard from the security man standing there that the airline we were scheduled to fly on that morning, ATA, had gone BANKRUPT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT! The airline employees hadn't even been notified and had shown up for work to discover they no longer had jobs!

And thus the astro chart turned out to be spot-on. The Moon in Pisces was applying to a conjunction with Uranus, the planet of surprises, and there was a stellium (grouping of planets)in the 11th house of groups. So this bankruptcy sent emotional turbulence, ripples and chaos throughout the Islands and impacted many people!

We had to think fast because our timing required us to be in Florida to catch a cruise ship which we had paid for a year in advance, and it would cruise without us unless we could find a way to get there in time.

We bought the last two tickets on Hawaii Airlines to fly to Oahu where we figured we would stand a better chance of getting flights to the Mainland. Once there, we stood in line at Delta Airlines before they even opened for business, and we were the first to tell them our sad story and ask for their help in booking us a flight to Ft. Lauderdale, our destination and cruise departure point.

Delta Airlines were great, and at the last minute managed to book us new tickets at a discounted price because of our situation. However, Uranus and the Moon weren't through messing with us yet as the applying conjunction was still in play.

After going through a long security check, we sighed a sigh of relief that we had made it thus far. Whoops--too soon for that sigh we were to find out!

Since we were flying stand-by, we had to wait for the gate agents to call our names, and when they did so, we were ready. HOWEVER for some crazy Uranian reason, my partner had not gotten his security ticket stamped, and so they had to call security to have him frisked in front of everyone in the waiting area. The security guy couldn't figure out how this could have happened that my partner had made it through security without having been stamped! After making a big deal of checking my partner, he finally stamps the two two pieces of paper and takes off.... but NO, Uranus is not finished yet!

The security man accidentally took off with the most important part--the ticket! So then the gate agent had to call him again and ask for him to return the ticket! By this time, I'm laughing my a$$ off! I looked down at my watch, and I could see that the conjunction had passed, and now we were ready to move forward as we had passed ALL our tests!

Now my partner MIGHT let me book the tickets for the next journey. Or maybe not. He's very stubborn with a Taurus Moon, and of course, I'll remind him of this crazy adventure we experienced. My Virgo Sun will insist!

Spring Equinox Makes Me Smile

Many scholars believe that the TRUE New Year Day is today, March 20--the day of the Spring Equinox. And I feel there is much merit to this, so I always celebrate this day by communing with Nature, meditation, and prayers.

All of the above actions have been my day thus far...a most holy day. Of course, it doesn't hurt that it's a gorgeous day on Maui and Springtime is here in all its glory!

I was reading the blog of the famous astrologer, Alan Oken, where he wrote this, "I would appreciate some feedback from any of you who have 19-20º of Pisces or the other mutable signs prominent in your charts as the events of March 27-28 will be very “interesting” for you, to say the least!."

We shall see what I have to share about this day. I have 19 degrees Pisces Rising in my Natal Chart with Transiting Uranus sitting directly on it and opposing my Natal Sun in 21 degrees Pisces. Adding Venus to this mix will be MOST interesting.

But that is a whole week away and I'll be on vacation. So I'm going to put this UranusonmyAscendantoppositemySunjoinedbyVenus (yes, I wrote it this way on purpose!) outta my head and try not to imagine anything! And I'm returning to enjoy my Happy Holy Ostara.

Please pray for the Tibetan People and for the Highest Good to come forth from the current troubled situation is all I have to add.

Maui has the highest price of gas in the Nation, and the cost of groceries has also skyrocketed here. I'm grateful and blessed that we can still afford to shop for food unlike many Americans who are struggling to get by in these harsh economic times.

We are blessed with trees that bring forth avocado, mango, papaya, and banana in season. Now the avocado season has ended, and the mango season soon will begin. We share our produce with others, and they share with us. This is one way we bless one another.

Whenever we visit friends or they visit us, it's traditional to bring an offering of food--whether it be ripe fruit from our garden or something else. We never show up empty handed, nor do our friends. And this tradition is itself a blessing!

Having Fun With Astrology

About two weeks ago a dear friend requested that I do her chart for her. She said she wanted to pay me, and even though I normally don't hang out my shingle as an 'working' astrologer for many reasons, I accepted her kind offer. Because she's a great woman, I really put my all into interpreting her chart and giving her her money's worth. I sent it to her in various parts because it took me all of two weeks to complete it for her! I was elated when I was finished because doing a bang-up job was stressful on me. I once again remembered why I don't desire to be a professional astrologer! I'm happy being a mere student of astrology. I like to have fun with astrology, and that doesn't translate into doing readings.

My friend holds my astro skills in high regard. However, I know differently! And in this lifetime, I may never feel accomplished in this area because I read and study the great astrologers and the information they impart. I feel much more comfortable and sure of my intuition!

Quite often I will see transits, progressions, and aspects in a chart which don't jibe with my intuition. And then I wait and see with hindsight if and how these astro aspects played out. Which was more on the money--the astro info or my intuition? For example, did a transit have THAT much impact? I read that one astrologer said you needed to see a theme repeated THREE times in a chart for it to be considered predictive or powerful. Can "good character" over-ride negative transits in a chart even it has been thrice repeated?

I've also read that the Western astrology modality I employ isn't as accurate for predictions as the Vedic astrological modality. Since I've never studied Vedic astrology, I don't know if this is true or not. Any thoughts on this subject anyone?

My angels are always helping me and blessing me in every way every day. I'm constantly telling them Thank You! for all they do. The angels are very real to me, and although I don't SEE them, I experience their handiwork, their angelic assistance. Since I invited them to collaborate with me, my faith has grown in them because of their unfailing help. They've never let me down, and they've performed many miracles that have amazed me because of the intricacies of timing. I never feel bereft because I know I don't walk alone.

Some people could debate what I experience isn't really the help of "angels" but instead a more expansive multidimensional 'me' which operates in a mysterious, helpful fashion. And that very well may be. Whatever it is, I prefer to call this phenomena My Angels.

It's my sense that as one works to rid themselves of selfishness, anger, feelings of lack, and self-pity that one has more power to ignite the (angelic) forces for Miracle Making. This is a moment-to-moment choice. Does one want to choose negativity or what is called in the Hawaiian language, Pono?

Many tropical birds fly, live, and visit our property on Maui, and we are blessed by their visitations. Yesterday this beautiful white egret walked around our yard blessing us with it's presence. I've seen egrets before, and they favor the Eastern side of our property.

Birds are often symbols of the Holy Spirit--and especially white birds with the white dove being the most famous.

Later in the day we visited the Heart Shrine Relic Tour and were blessed by the relics and Lama Gyalsten of the Maui Dharma Center. If you'd like to view photos of these precious relics, I will be placing a slide show on another of my blogs, Who's Yo Mama.

This morning my partner mentioned to me that something didn't feel quite right about the daily vibes. He couldn't put his finger on it, and he asked me to check his astrology chart to see what might be making him feel a touch anxious. So I did.

And I discovered some good aspects for him. He's playing in a golf tournament tomorrow, and with the transiting conjunction of Mercury and Venus in his sign Aquarius happening on this day, I can't think of a better day to be social and communicate with others. He's teamed up with his best golfing buddy who is an excellent golfer who will keep him competitive. With the Mercury-Venus conjunction, he might be having too much fun to seriously compete, so it's good that he has a competitive partner.

The reason for this story and my belief: the stars don't rule us. Our charts don't rule us. Our feelings don't rule us...if we're wise. Astrology can only point the way or give us some guidance. We're in charge of our lives.

The Year of the Wood Rat began on Feb. 7th, and I'm already experiencing the blessings from the Rat Year! Here is what is written on the Squidoo site about the Rat Year:

Uranus Makes It Official

Today is the official day--the day when Transiting Uranus is EXACTLY SQUARE my Natal Uranus. According to the astrology books, this is the time period when I'm supposed to feel old, and this is what the eminent astrologer Robert Hand writes, "There is often a crisis associated with this transit, when you suddenly realize that you are getting old."

And you know what--in a strange way, this statement is factual. I could look in the mirror and say to myself, "You need a face lift girlfriend!" But the way this transit is impacting me is like this: I want to travel. I want adventure. I want freedom. I want to play. I want to do crazy things. I want to do things I've never done before.

I wonder if other Baby Boomers feel like me. We're the generation that wants to turn back time-- like Cher--and want to feel eternally young. We're not like the generation before us, are we? Are we going to change the way OLD looks and feels and acts and dresses? Are the astrology books going to need a re-write because of the way the Baby Boomers act-out 'old'?

Today is my Significant Other's birthday, an important one for he turns 65. When he was born , his Mother brought him into the world all by herself in a farm house in the backwoods of Ohio. She remembered the time as "around dawn". As you can well imagine-- giving birth by yourself-- you wouldn't exactly be thinking about the time. Who knows if she even had a clock?!

I had his chart rectified by an excellent astrologer so the correct time of his birth would be known, and this rectified chart is the astrological chart I employ for him. I believe it's correct. For example, his three most loved people all have their birthdays one day apart from one another, and that's where one of his midpoints lie: his favorite sister, his best friend, and ME!

He's been a HUGE blessing in my life, and a great teacher. Although we have chosen to remain together unmarried, we've been together longer than many married couples: almost 18 years! Like most couples, we've had our rocky times and our fabulous times. Many would have never given us odds to stay together as long as we have because we're opposites in so many ways. As we've grown older together, we've been practicing unconditional love, allowance, and respect. It's because of our differences that we've been learning such valuable lessons about Love.

Solar Eclipse Day

Like most people, I've been following the primary returns and wondering how today's Solar Eclipse will impact the outcome. I'm also observing my partner's chart with the current Aquarius stellium (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Chiron, North Node, and Neptune) surrounding his Natal Aquarius Sun at 20 degrees on both sides. Will some or all of the business opportunities go his way?

With the Stellium in Aquarius, the outcome of the Democratic race suggests that the candidate who most calls for CHANGE would eventually secure the Democratic nomination--and we know who has made that word the highlight of his campaign, don't we? We shall see.

Yesterday was the holy day of Imbolc, a festival and day associated with rebirth and fertility. Imbolc is also known as Brigid's Day, so-called because it was named after the Celtic Goddess of fire and healing--later to be called Candlemas by the Christians.

Even though I'm a day late, I'm honoring this special day today in my Blog Your Blessings Sunday post because I feel I/You/We are blessed by our ancestors who were aware of the turning of the seasons and left us a legacy of wisdom about the energies to celebrate at certain times of the year.

On Predictions and Presidents

There have been plentiful posts written by blogger-astrologers about the entry of Pluto into Capricorn which happened this last Friday, January 25th. Reading all the astrological information about this important sign change, I've pondered the many words of wisdom and predictions about Pluto in Capricorn, but it wasn't until last evening as I was listening to Coast To Coast AM and the guest, John Hogue, that I had my 'aha' moment.

John was speaking of the possible entrance into the presidential race of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Listening to John talk about Bloomberg is when it hit me! Bloomberg is so Pluto in Capricorn! Of course!

Pluto is symbolized by corporations, big business, and powerful men who already have lots of money and power--all of which fits Michael Bloomberg who is considered one of the world's richest people according to Wikipedia.

Even though Bloomberg has repeatedly denied he's entering the race, Pluto in Capricorn suggests he would fit the role. Even if he decides to run as vice-president (apparently he could finance this with his own money), this symbolism still works.

Born on Feb. 14th, 1942, he was born with the Sun and Moon in Aquarius according to Astrodatabank. He has a Mars/Saturn conjunction in his 10th house of Career. Mars and Saturn in conjunction has been described as having one foot on the gas pedal and one foot on the brake all the time. It's a very stressful aspect to have in one's chart, and in my experience observing those who have this aspect, they can surprise one by suddenly shifting to full speed ahead or suddenly putting on the brakes. Add this aspect to his Aquarian stellium in his 7th house, and we may have to wait til the last moment to see what he chooses to do!

Will the upcoming Solar Eclipse at 17 degrees Aquarius on February 6th conjunct his Natal Moon on the same degree bring him to a decision? Time will tell.

I am extremely grateful and BLESSED that I've cultivated my intuition so much so that I trust it completely--and with my life! This week I heard something from a medical "authority" which didn't feel right, and my intuition told me absolutely don't follow the advice from this authority. I ran the scenario by trusted beloveds, and they agreed with my intuition and sense of things, although none of us can "prove" it beyond a shadow of a doubt. But then neither can the so-called authority. There is a nebulous quality to the matter in question in which no one can say yea nor nay for certain. In times like these, I fall back upon my intuition because it has a great track record.

Full Moon in Leo Isn't Easy--More Like Queasy

Oh sure--I've read all the GOOD astro things about this Full Moon period, and maybe I'm blaming the Leo Moon unfairly for my queasy stomach/gut, but seriously it feels as if this Leo Moon is setting us all up for something extremely dramatic.

And yes, I know Mercury is getting ready to go retrograde soon and Mars is getting ready to go direct and Pluto is entering Capricorn and everyone is concerned about their financial future, AND my stomach is in knots.

Astrology Is A BIG subject

People are utterly and completely fascinating to me, and that's why I became a student of astrology in the first place--to learn about such fascinating creatures called 'people'. And astrology has been good to me in this way...it's broadened my compassion and understanding of people. Even if you're not planning to be an teacher/expert or do charts for others, learning some astrology is an extremely worthwhile and beneficial study.

Playing around with astrology is fun for me as the giant puzzle pieces of a chart enfold so much vast information. And then when you compare one chart with another, whoaaa! When I meet people or read a memoir, I say, "Oh, I know this person has their Moon in Gemini, or this writer feels as if she's a Cancer." Now I'm beginning to spot certain signs, and be able to 'call-it' when I observe another (and given enough information) without knowing the birth time.

Of course, I've added other disciplines and studies to the mix as well such as Ayurveda, Cards of Destiny, and Numerology to name a few. And I've not even begun to dig into all the vast astro information available to study: arcs, harmonics, fixed stars, black holes, etc. I'll probably spend the rest of my life as a student, but I don't care. Like I said, it's fun for me.

One of the things I've always wanted to do (but have yet to do) is to have my chart done by some of the famous astrologers I so much admire. This is on my To Do list. Thus far, I've had maybe five famous ones read my chart, and each one came up with new information and insights. Like I said, astrology is an infinite repository of knowledge.

I Hit the Big 333 Mark!

My last post for this blog hit 333! Since these three numbers are the last three digits of my email address, I view this as good luck omen. I've actually hung-in there and posted 333 times!

Imagine that--and me with a Sagittarian Moon to boot! My most common response is to say, "Next!" And then I move on in search of variety and the NEW! I probably could never post as much as I do if I lived anywhere else but where I live because Saturn is in the Zenith here. This means Saturn is powerful for me here for those not familiar with the term 'Zenith'. My restless Sagittarius Moon nature is watched over by the taskmaster Saturn which keeps me posting away.

I recently discovered a Sabian Symbol Oracle website. I've never had much luck understanding and using the Sabian Symbols, although I know lots of great astrologers utilize them in their interpretations. I played around with the Oracle a bit though, and maybe I'll grow to grok the symbols this way.

Currently I'm reading the bestseller nonfiction book, "Eat, Pray, Love", and thus, I've been considering prayer. Early in the book, the author meets and has a conversation with what she calls God when she is so miserable that she is finally reduced to praying.

It's almost a cliche that this is such standard practice for so many people--and that only when things have gotten so bad in their lives, they finally make time to pray. REALLY pray!

My blessing for today is that I believe in the power of prayer and that I make it a daily practice whether my fortunes are up or down. Prayer for others is always a part of my day, and not just prayer for myself. I pray. I bless. Others pray for me and my family too! Such a blessing!

The great reward for praying and blessing others is that the FORCE flows through us, and in turn, we are then blessed!

Uranus On My Ascendant

I've been taking a break for many long months from posting about the astro charts of celebrities and instead have been focusing on my family, friends and me. Why? There are two reasons:

First, many incredible astrologer-bloggers do a much better job analyzing the charts of celebrities. Second, I'm weary of the celebrity crazy culture in which we live. (I want to scream when I hear YET another Britney soap opera. Leave the poor girl alone--the media is responsible for driving her nutty if truth were to be told.) As I don't want to contribute to the celebrity c***, I then have to focus on ordinary, REAL people...and that would be my family, friends, and me.

With that said, I'm gonna write about Transiting Uranus lounging/lurking/living on my Natal Pisces Ascendant. Since Uranus moves slowly (being one of the outer planets), and since Uranus takes even more sweet time doing the retrograde dance, I will have Uranus on my Ascendant for a LONG time...so I might as well make the best of this aspect, right?

As with all the planets and aspects, there is the good and the bad. One of the ways I've watched Uranus work in my life thus far is to glue me to my computer. Uranus rules computers, astrology, technology, and the ability to communicate to the masses. I've never been drawn to or spent so much time with computers before Uranus came to visit my Natal Ascendant. Now Uranus has me on duty!

Another symbolism of Uranus is the desire for freedom, independence, and thrill seeking. And yes, I'm feeling all of these too! My perfect job right now would be to take my laptop computer with me and blog about my world travels.

Since Uranus also symbolizes flight and space travel, wouldn't it be great if I could blog about my trip to the Moon?

Observing Neptune

I am experiencing the opportunity to observe Neptune up -close and personal these days as my partner has Transiting Neptune conjunct his Natal Sun in Aquarius. He will have this aspect for a quite a while, and thus, I'm getting the front row seat watching Neptune work its magic on him.

Besides not being able to find anything right in front of him (he's always had this challenge and hence one of his nicknames is Magoo!) and becoming more disorganized and forgetful, I've observed the mystical Neptune influencing him.

He's becoming more intuitive, more sensitive, and more drawn to spiritual and metaphysical subjects. For instance, all the spiritual books he purchased for me as Christmas gifts were books he told me he was drawn to read. Coming from a sports-guy who usually wants to ONLY read sports-related material, this is definitely a Neptunian influence.

I haven't seen the negative influence of Neptune yet. Supposedly the 'books' say that a person may be inclined to deceive others during this transit. We'll see if he trys this....but since I've got my 'eye' on him, he'll have to be really good at this. :Smile:

This was one of those weeks where not only was I busy taking care of myself after another health relapse, but also one where I needed to attend to important matters. Making my health and recovery a priority, I received the help from others to accomplish what was required.

Thus, my blessing of the week is the assistance and love from family and friends who are always there for me when I need them! What a blessing it is to have a strong supportive team!

Big Talkers And Partners

It came to my attention when I was meditating recently that I really don't like to talk. Talking tires me out, and even though I'm considered a good conversationalist, I prefer NOT TALKING and just BEING with others.

This desire to be quiet must be why I've picked--unknown to me at the time--men that have their Dragon's Head (The North Node) in Leo. My longest three running relationships (two husbands and one significant other) have all had their North Node in Leo conjunct my Venus.

According to the Cafe Astrology website, this conjunction is interpreted this way:

"Venus conjunct, sextile, or trine other person's North Node

This pairing is a strong indication of a binding tie between you. You are likely to find it easy to cooperate with one another, perhaps even combining your talents successfully. A major focus of this relationship is romantic love, and in all likelihood the feelings for one another were instant. There is a true feeling of enjoyment and pleasure with one another."

I'm sure all of the above is true, but in my case, I've experienced three men with North Nodes conjunct my Venus, and they all were Big Talkers and Loved To Be The Center of Attention! I think I chose them (subconsciously maybe?) because then I wouldn't have to do the talking! I knew they would take up the slack in conversations with others.

The above photo of a Kuan Yin statue at a temple in Thailand was taken by me when I made a Kuan Yin pilgrimage to many Kuan Yin temples many years ago. I feel very connected to Kuan Yin and to the Grace and Compassion which flows from her to so many. I also feel very blessed to use her name as a blogger, and I've changed it around a bit in that I spell my blogger name Kuanyin out of respect to the great Kuan Yin.

For those that don't know much about her, here is some information:

Completing 2007

This is the LAST blog (of the ten blogs I have with Blogger) which I've updated today. My goal was to have all ten of my Blogger blogs updated prior to the 2008 New Year. Looking at the remaining days in my 2007 date book, I can see I'm gonna be very busy right up until 2008, so this will likely be my last chance to post!

The Transiting Moon (feelings) and Transiting Saturn (diligent labor) are conjunct my Natal Mercury (communications) today in my 6th House of Work. These aspects are keeping me enthused about correspondence, communication, and completion. And as a Sun-Sign Virgo, I love to keep things tidy too.

In three days the Universal Nine Year (completion) of 2007 (2+0+0+7=9) will give way to the New Beginnings of the Universal One Year of 2008. New beginnings are in store for all of us!

Will I remain a prolific blogger? Will I EVER complete my books? Or will my Mars Return set me on a new path and adventure? I can feel 'something' brewing inside which whispers something bright and shining and 'new' is right around the corner.

Synchronicity and Merry Christmas

As I was out running around looking for last minute Christmas stocking stuffer gifts, I chanced upon a book for ME! This was a marked-down astrology book at Borders, and I couldn't resist it. The book is titled "What Your Birthday Reveals About You" by Phyllis Vega. It's a hard-back book, and nicely packaged.

Here's why I couldn't resist buying yet another astrology book:

I coincidentally opened the page to the date of my significant other who was born on Feb. 10th, an Aquarian with a Taurus Moon and Capricorn Rising--to give you some hint of his astro make-up. When synchronicities like opening to a certain page like this happen to me, I pay attention. I knew I needed a Christmas gift for me to share with you. :Smile:

And then when I read the first couple of sentences, I thought darn that Phyllis. She has nailed him! Here's those first couple of sentences which sold me, "The individual whose birthday falls on February 10 is a dynamic bundle of high energy. Plugged in and ready to go, you zip through your day, and anyone who gets in the way risks being run over."

Oh yeh! That's him! And bump the High Energy up about 50%, and you have an idea of this dynamo I live with--especially at Christmas and during High Season on Maui, he's something else zipping around like Santa Claus making his rounds.

Here is my magical manifestion/blessing of the week story:

During the Christmas Season, many people I know are lonely, and for one reason or another they will be by themselves on Christmas Day. These people are yearning for love, companionship, and friendship with like-minded others. Since I can't be with them (except in Spirit), I was brainstorming one day on how I could assist them to attract love & friendship into their lives when I chanced upon a website which had a recipe for a Love Sachet.

This website looked very sweet and spiritual, and I decided at that moment, I would make my own Love Sachets following the instructions. However, I was stymied by the ingredient of "dried baby roses", and I wondered where I could acquire these. All the other ingredients I could purchase, or I already them on hand.

So I turned my request for dried baby roses over to the Divine and let it go and allowed Grace to bring me these roses. I told God/Goddess that if I'm supposed to make these love sachets for friends, everything will fall in place. And last night the roses showed up in the most improbable way!

My partner was having his annual Christmas party, and every year, he and I are given leis by his Plant Managers. This year my lei consisted of maile leaves with about 30 or more baby roses! So now I'm in business! I'm going to hand sew these love sachets with lavender thread, put in all the ingredients, and soon all my love-lorn friends will have one mailed to them!

Of course, I will time everything by the Moon and with the aid of astrology. Plus these sachets will be blessed. I'm so excited to start my new project in 2008!

Lining Up For The Solstice

"Around the solstice the Earth will be lined up with Mars on one side of the
Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, and Pluto on the opposite. Plus, the Galactic Center
is in this line up.

The Galactic Center is the center of our galaxy, called the Milky Way, which
has an estimated 2 billion stars in it. If we could see it, then it would be
perhaps as bright as a hundred-thousand stars. It is the parent star of our
galaxy. There are several billion other galaxies in the universe so far
known. Six months from now, at the summer solstice (in the Northern
hemisphere), Earth will be on the same side of the Sun as the galactic
center. At these times there is an extra amount of galactic center emanation
available for humans.

The Moon is also full and conjunct with Mars (December 23; remember the
lunar effects are often present one or two days before the actual

On a more personal note: Transiting Retrograde Mars will be conjunct my Natal Mars, and Transiting Saturn will be conjunct my Natal Mercury. With all that's going on with the planetary line-up and personal astrology, the Christmas Season looks like it's gonna pack a punch!

I'm grateful this Blog Your Blessings Sunday for having enough energy to attend many Christmas parties and events. Having missed out on celebrating Halloween and Thanksgiving because of health reasons, I'm blessed to have recovered enough to join with friends and family to celebrate this Season of Light!

Even though many people feel Christmas has become overly commercialized (and it has!), it's still the Season where I get to see people I don't see all year long....and this is why the Season means a lot to me! It's the season of community gatherings and visiting with others who lead busy lives like me!

Maui recently experienced the worst storm in probably 50 years, and there was a power outage for three days (or more) in some areas. Our area was one of the last ones to get their electric back, and so we were blissfully happy when we had electric again! My blessing this Sunday is for having electricity functioning in our home again!

We're also blessed that nothing was damaged in our home or property and that the flash flood that ran down our street diverted when it came to our property! What a miracle!

More on Mars

Many seers, prophets, and astrologers have been writing about the upcoming Winter Solstice time period and making predictions. And Mars plays a leading role in these often-time dire predictions.

On December 24th, there will be a Sun-Mars opposition plus Mercury, Jupiter, Sun, and Pluto will align with the Galactic Center. Mars rules fires, crashes, explosions, and clashes, and thus, it's easy to see the cosmic set-up for challenging times.

What is going to happen I've puzzled. Will there be a disaster(s) like the warnings foretell?

As it so happened, I recently read Kathryn Winter's Astrology Newsletter article titled "Unusual Techniques of Chart Interpretation--Oprah Winfrey". At the very bottom of the article on Oprah, there were two asterisks. (Yes, I'm 'that' Virgo who actually READS the asterisks!)

The first asterisk really caught my eye as Kathryn referenced Mars, and since I've been puzzling over these predictions, I paid attention. She was referencing Out of Bound Mars when she wrote, "* For example Mars was OOB at 9/11. In this case the war-like nature of Mars was acting in an uncontainable manner. In the Christmas 2007 season, Mars is once again OOB in high declinations, so one must expect the potential for terrorism or erratic acts of anger to be higher at this time than 2006."

This last Mars clue has made me super aware of the critical nature of the time period ahead. However, rather than move into fear with this , I propose prayer and intention that all of us pay attention to our OWN out-of-control Mars reactions and pump up our intentions for Harmony and World Peace!

Oh That Retro Mars!

I'm not going to claim to be a good health astrologer for that would be far from the truth. Somewhere out there in the vast realms of fabulous astrologers, I'm sure some specialize in medical astrology or health issues. Maybe they could look at my chart and go, "Oh yeh, this is what's going on with you!" But being the kind of astrologer I am, I've been doing my best at attempting to piece together the saga of my infection which began on my journey to the Mainland and is mostly on the wane now. (Knock on wood!)

Here's what I've come up with, and I'm pinning the rap on Mars! Mars Retro is causing challenges for many, and for me, it came in the form of an infection which led to a serious health issue, a hospital visit, and now recovery. For those that don't know, Mars is in what is called retrograde right now, so Mars "seems to be" going backwards.

The "re" addition to words now is part of the Mars energy. For some, it is re-energizing or re-working or re-doing. For me, re-lapse has been the name of the game. Just as I improve, a re-lapse has followed.

Needless to say, I have wondered whussup! What is Mars trying to tell me? Slow down has been the message I've been receiving from Spirit, people, doctors, etc. Being by nature a very active person, this is a tough lesson for me!

Retro Mars is backing into my Natal 5 Degree Dragon's Head and my 4 Degree Natal Mars (in my 4th house of home) and will square my Natal 4 Degree Jupiter in my 7th house of partnerships on December 20th and thereabouts. Perhaps by this time I will have understood the gift of Retro Mars and it's message to me.

Without the relief I've received from the husband/wife (Dave and Jackie Reed) team, I don't know how I would have made it. The doctors tell you that a virus just "has to run its course", but my course has been a long one---now over two months! Plus recently (because my immune system has been compromised by the viral pneumonia), I got the flu...as did my partner! So the herbal remedies and treatments from this team have helped me so much!

So the other day I had the most wonderful treatment--a Svedana. This is a 30-minute herbal steam which penetrates your body to rid it of toxins. I felt wonderful after the treatment, but when I walked in the door, I looked and felt horrible.

Dream Of A Past Lover

Many a long year ago, I had a brief love affair with a man who would eventually become a famous television and movie actor. I dreamed about him last night, and so in the middle of the night, I arose to Google his name to see what was up with him. I hadn't thought about him in a long, long time, and we ended our affair when I moved on to another. Through the years, I enjoyed his shows and movies because he's a talented actor, and I was happy for his success. When we knew each other, his acting career had just begun to take off.

All I remembered about him was that he was an Aquarius, and Google filled me in on the rest with his birth date and birth place (but not the birth time). I won't mention his name as I wish to remain private with this information. I also saw that he has suffered greatly in recent years with physical issues, and I was horrified at some of the photos posted of him! I don't know why I dreamed of him after such a long time, but with hindsight, I will probably discover the reason.

In any event, I saw that he had a Leo Moon with a nearly exact Grand Trine with his Natal Sun, Uranus, and Neptune--what a perfect combo for an actor for both television and movies! Mars was Trine his Moon-- thus his casting (most often) as an action/adventure hero. His love life hasn't fared well with few Venus contacts and not positive ones.

His North Node is in Leo, and quoting from the Jan Spiller book, "Astrology For The Soul": "These people desperately need the energy of approval". Also, Jan writes, "These people belong in professions that reward individual creative effort. Entertaining (singing, acting, etc.) entrepreneurship, or some other way of being at center stage releases their tremendous creative energy in constructive ways that bring joy to all." He has done all of these creative ventures I see from his Wikipedia profile and fan sites.

However, he's not looking well. Hopefully, this is just a passing phase.

After returning from my trip to the Mainland in September, I fell ill. Actually, I experienced two nights of illness before returning home to Maui, but my illness continued despite my attempts to get better, visits to holistic doctors, and a session with a medical intuitive....none of whom picked up on my exact ailment.

However, I had a visit from my deceased Mother in a dream, and she informed me I had pleurisy. I had never heard this word before, and so I researched it, and I even noted that I had pleurisy on my blog post of Oct. 21th on Wailea Daily Photo.

Yet my main doctor was on vacation, and when I asked for an x-ray with a fill-in doctor at Kaiser, he didn't feel I needed one as he felt I only was suffering with bronchitis. He gave me an antibiotic prescription, and thus, because of his lack of understanding my situation, my pleurisy worsened.

Finally, I returned to Kaiser late one Saturday to demand an x-ray because I knew I wasn't getting any better, and this time I finally got one. The x-ray showed my left lung almost completely disappeared and covered up with fluid. The doctor on duty that afternoon told me I had to check into the hospital immediately, and the following day, I had a pleural effusion which drains the liquid from around your lung. About a quart and a half of amber colored liquid came out, and they ran tests on this fluid. After a long waiting period, the test results can back that I had a viral infection, most likely viral pneumonia.

I'm now recovering and waiting for the remaining pleural fluid to be absorbed and released from my body. Every day I'm feeling better, but it's been challenging for me to spend much time on the computer as I've needed to rest a lot.

I am totally blessed by guidance from The Other Side.....by my Mother who still watches over me....and by my faith and trust in the guidance I receive. It saved my life!

Neptune has retrograded back and forth within several degrees of orb in this ongoing opposition, and trust me, this transit has challenged me. At this point in time, the 'con' seems to have been more highlighted than the 'pro'. Perhaps with hindsight, I will perceive more of the 'pro', but right now I'm celebrating that this difficult transit will begin to finalize. It won't be until March 2008 that Neptune will be at least three degrees out of orb from opposition to my Venus which is the basic minimum orb for signs of relief.

During this same time period, Transiting Neptune has been going back and forth on top of my partner's Sun which has also had both positive and negative effects. All in all, Neptune has been doing a double whammy on our family.

So today I'm celebrating Neptune turning direct. Halloween is a minor holiday by comparison.

Happy Full Blood Moon

Ok. I'll come right out with it. Even though this current Full Moon was/is Perigee (closest to Earth) right now and supposed to appear Giant In The Sky, to my perception it's the same size as always. I've asked other Maui folk if the Full Moon seemed bigger to them than normal, and they all said no. Perhaps our location is the reason why the Full Moon seems the same size as every other Full Moon? Above is a photo I took of the Moon this morning.

The California Fires---Why?

Being the inveterate all-across-the-board investigative type, I've been listening-to and reading the theories and speculations about what is causing these horrendous California fires.

I watched a special on 60-Minutes this Sunday on tv, and many fire and climatology experts assess that just the one degree increase in climate temperature has allowed such fires to take place. Their theory sounded very reasonable to me.

I listened to the controversial astrologer Dr. Turi on Coast To Coast last evening, and he suggested that "terroism" was involved.

I've read many astute astrologers who are featured on Elsa Elsa's Top Ten Sources and each one of these posts made by these excellent astrologers make good points.

From The Astrologer I discovered the link to astrometerologist Carolyn Egan who had predicted the windy condtions in California in her Fall 2007 Forecast.

I read on Rumor Mill News the theory that a caldera stretches all the way from Santa Barbara down to San Diego and that embers from this caldera combined with Santa Ana winds had started this firestorm in Southern California.

Whatever the reasons for these fires, my heart goes out to all the evacuated people living in fear, suspense, and concern about their futures.

A mass migration is well underway. Where are all these people going to go to rebuild their lives and start over again? Will there be enough temporary housing to accommodate them until rebuilding begins? What about the frail and elderly--who is going to take them in? What about the pay-outs by the insurance companies---will they be as slow as molasses as in the Katrina disaster? Is California going to continue having fires such as this as suggested on the 60-Minutes show?

These are just a few of the many, many questions racing through my mind as I reflect upon the devastation in California.

Saturn In Virgo--Oh Bruddah!

Ever since the entry of Saturn into Virgo (my Sun Sign), I've been consumed/beset with health issues and health research. I've signed up for even more alternative health newsletters. I've dealt with doctors and a medical intuitive. I've discovered much more about health and well-being. I've reverted to an eating plan which was devised for me many years ago by a nutritionist who determined which foods are the best of me....and which ones I should avoid. My diet has become quite spartan. I plan to resume my old exercise routine once I'm able again. My lifestyle has dramatically changed. Saturn is slapping me around, awakening me, and pushing me to a whole new level of health and well-being. If I don't listen to Saturn now, I get-it that the transit of Saturn through Virgo will only be harsher yet. Since I'm a wuss when it comes to pain, I've been paying great attention to this Saturn lesson.

I'm just now on the tail-end of a health crisis which began about a month ago. According to my holistic doctor and the well-known medical intuitive who scanned me, I "inhaled" something on my recent journey to the mainland which pushed my immune system over the edge. Whether it was a virus or something else, the blessings from this illness has been an increase in my health knowledge, appreciation for well-being, and a greater respect for the taskmaster Saturn.

Blog Your Blessings Sunday

The past two weeks have presented health issues to me, and I'm not kidding when I say it's been rough. I've not blogged for the most part as my attention and focus has been on getting well and discovering what provoked me to get out of balance.

I'm very greatful for my partner who has picked up the slack with grocery shopping, errands, etc, and for my daughter who has also lent a much-needed hand in many areas while I've been down.

I'm also greatful for my wise, informed friends who have weighed-in with their wisdom and healing. I'm grateful for my alternative doctors and the Medical Intuitive who assisted me through my discomfort and illuminated how I had been laid low. Have I ever learned a lot about so many things!!!! The information they have shared with me has been priceless.

I'm grateful for the healing products, services, my angels and guides who have led me to a deeper place and expanded consciousness than I have been in a long, long time. Together all of those mentioned have contributed to the re-examination of my life and what I choose to do with it. I'm still very weak, but I'm on the comeback trail. I feel so blessed to have survived.

Libra New Moon

It's been one of my habits for many years now to write down my intentions at the New Moon. Depending upon the Moon, the house where the New Moon lies and its aspects, I tailor my written intentions to fit. For instance, this New Moon in Libra falls in my 7th House of Relationships, an easy fit since the sign of Libra is all about relationships. Thus, this lunar month I will focus on improving all my relationships, learning more about relationships, etc., and all my intentions will synch up with this Libra New Moon.
