As synchronicity would have it, I recently met a man on Maui who is familiar with the work of Brian Nager. We are the only two that we have met on Maui who know of Brian. I'm sure there are more, but we haven't met them. L. was among a group of us who lunched today, and he updated me on Brian's latest information. Upon returning home, I opened my copy of Brian's book, "The Ego Identity Crisis", and will share a passage from his book:
"Just because one is enlightened doesn't mean that they will never again be tempted by the ego or other nontruthful beings to be self-serving once more. In fact, sometimes temptations grow. Buddha and Jesus spoke of many instances when they were tempted by 'sinful beings' while they were enlightened. Even if one is tempted, there are no emotional or mental ties to what these beings try to tempt one with, whether sex, money, power, or control. This is how they try to pull one back into the false reality of illusion and suffering. In actuality, they just want to share their pain."
This last sentence speaks so much truth to me!
There are times when we are more susceptible and vulnerable, and we can identify these temptation- times through astrology, intuition, and other means.
